AFTER HOURS

If you need a doctor between the hours of 9.00pm to 8.00am Monday to Friday, after midday on Saturday or on Sundays our locum service is available. Please call Sydney Medical Service on 8724 6300.

When making an appointment, please inform reception staff if you require a long consultation.

Please note that appointments will be given priority. However in the event of an emergency, these patients will be seen first.

Privacy laws prevent us from giving results over the phone. If necessary a nurse will contact you to make an appointment to discuss any abnormal results.

During the week appointments are necessary, however this does not mean you will be seen at the exact time. On some occasions earlier appointments may take longer than expected. On other occasions an emergency situation may eventuate delaying your appointment.

PREVENTATIVE MEDICINE

We believe that prevention is better than cure. We can offer advise on a range of preventative health checks such as blood pressure and choleserole checks, pap smears, mammograms, prostate checks and more. Please make an appointment with your doctor to discuss what checks are appropriate for you.

WORK COVER CONSULTATIONS

If your consultation is Work Cover related your employer will be billed directly for your treatment. You will be asked for your employer contact details so we may confirm that they will accept liability. You will be given 48 hours to submit your claim to your employer. If your employer does not accept liability this will be documented and you will be bulk billed for your treatment.

Third party consultations are also available.

ACCIDENT AND EMERGENCY

In extreme emergencies such as severe breathing difficulty, chest pain, or severe injury telephone 000 immediately and ask for an ambulance.
For less urgent cases our surgery is equipped to deal with minor casualties. In urgent cases the first available doctor and our registered nurse will attend to you as a matter of priority. Please inform the receptionist if you think you require urgent treatment.
Emergency patients will be seen by the first available doctor rather than their preferred doctor.

REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS AND REFERRALS

In some cases you may obtain a repeat prescription for regular medications or a referral without a consultation, THIS IS AT THE DOCTORS DISCRETION. It is preferred that you make an appointment for a consultation so your condition may be reviewed and the management of your condition updated. If you are requesting a repeat prescription or a referral please leave all details with our receptionists and please ensure that we have 24 hours notice to complete the prescription or referral, or to ask an appointment be made.

PATHOLOGY AND
OTHER RESULTS

To protect your confidentiality and to maintain the highest quality of patient care, most results will not be given over the telephone. The doctors or nurse will advise you when your results should be available. You should make a follow up appointment to see your doctor. If your results are completely normal there will be no need to come in urgently. You will be able to discuss these results at your next consultation.
